- You won't believe what I did with this quilt panel In fact the quilt panel is unrecognizable when I finish with it. BUT IT'S CUTE!!! Watch this vidoe to see how 3 other youtube quilters make over the quilt panel!
The quilters below all participated in the panel challenge. The links to their videos are below their names ~ OR ~ you can click on the playlist just below their names where all the videos will be posted in one spot. But please, do check out everyone's channel.

I watched your video about 4 times trying to figure out your secret word and even here, there isn't one. 😂. I think it should be Squirrel! 🤣. On another note, I love what you did with the panel although, being new to quilting I would have never done it. Great lesson in creativity and loved it with the irish chain pattern. 🤩Winner winner Chicken dinner!
Thank you Heather, so I hope you win Soft Squares contest since you watch 4 times looking for a secret word. Thank you for watching & good luck ❣️👍🏼😊♥️🐥

I love the quilt. All artists have their own vision of what’s possible and pleasing. And I loved the “squirrel “ moment. We call all used a reminder . 😊
Thank you so much Linda 😊♥️🐥 TFW👍🏼😊
Thanks so much Linda 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I like your version of the panel quilt. For the KISS method I say keep it super simple
Reminds me of the concept “no such thing as ugly fabric, you just have to cut it smaller” … love the result
Thank you & thanks for watching 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
Love the brown inner border! Really brings out the colors other than yellow! So needed I think!
Yes, there was a lot of yellow, I agree. TFW😊♥️🐥
You are one BRAVE lady! Your quilt turned out so beautifully. You taught me something today! I’m 73 years old and I have never had the courage to slice up a panel. That is why I have so many panels in my stash! I can never figure out how to put them together. Now you will see I will start using them up. Thank you I so enjoyed this video.
I’m 71 and learned something new today as well
I love it! I love learning new things too :)
LOL, how many panels do you have? I'm finding out quilters buy a ton of them, so shocked! I never knew. I have one, lol. Thanks for watching :)
You are so creative. Think outside the box, and you will have a masterpiece, and you do. Thank you for sharing 💝
Thank you so much 😊 Thanks for watching 😊♥️🐥
I, for one, was not horrified at all to see you cut this panel up lol🤣 It was screaming "CUT ME/ SLICE ME"! Seriously though...great video Di...I love your "out of the box" thinking on this one.❤
Thank you Tracy 👍🏼♥️😊 Who would have thought cutting a fabric panel would be so controversial 😳❓😳 Thanks for your support 😊♥️👍🏼🐥
Hahaha 👍 Tracy. There is irony in that a chick bit the dust lol. Or the phenix chick 🐥 rises! 💗
Well, now I know what to do with all the panels that I have no use for....they have a use now. Love cutting it in strips. Awesome idea and a very lovely quilt!
Thank you Jean, I’m glad you liked your ideas. TFW👍🏼😊♥️🐥
At first, i was horrified to cut up a panel, BUT it turned out MUCH nicer than i could have imagined !!
Good for you!!!!!
I hope I didn’t cause you nightmares🤣 I literally couldn’t think of any other ways to sew it together. Thanks for watching Peggy.😊♥️🐥
@sisterchicksquilting
I saw the other 2 quilts...you did it right!!
HANDS DOWN!!!!!!
Must admit it was hard to watch you slice up that panel, however, love, love, love the quilt you made! ❤
I hope I didn’t traumatize you, Debra. I actually felt quite satisfied, but then I had a plan a knew where it was going. Thanks for watching.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I survived, thank you Di! You honestly gave me reason to look at all my panels a little differently now. Thought I was pretty good at stepping out of the box but realize I just may have another step to take. Thank you for the eye opener‼️😉💕
I look at it the same as cutting up any piece of fabric. Better to use it vs just sitting and sitting and sitting unused. What a great result.
I think cutting up a panel is a great idea if you're not interested in the panel as is. Love your Irish chain!
Thank you 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
Hello. Love the Quilt Idea. Thanks for Sharing.😊
That’s nice to hear Anna😊 thanks 👍🏼♥️🐥
I have watched all 4and I have to say Di, yours is my favourite. Well done and thank you for a fantastic idea. ❤
Thank you Debbie👍🏼♥️🐥
I love the way you recreated this quilt! Unique and beautiful!
Thanks, Judy. I appreciate your comment.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I love what you did with the panel 😍 I have a Tefal Steam Station, which is very similar to the Laura Star. I bought my first one over 30yrs ago and can’t live without it either!
Awesome! Thank you! That iron😍♥️😍👍🏼🐥
Great idea cutting this up! Turned out great.
Thanks, Pam and thank you for watching my channel😊♥️👍🏼
I looked at all of the entries and I like your version the best!!
Thank you Cheryl ♥️😊👍🏼🐥
This is amazing. I would not have ever thought of this!
Thanks, I hope yu make one then.
The colors in the panel strips are lovely.
Thank you I thought so too👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Love your creativity with this panel. Unique and perfect. ❤
I did pull something out of the box right Joy🤣 thanks for watching😊👍🏼🐥♥️
I missed last week's video because I was on a cruise without internet. So, when I watched this week's video I had to go back to see your panel quilt! I think it's amazing!
I love crusing, I'm ready for a cruise soon.
Turns out really cute! Great disguise for that panel!
Lol, over the great disguise comment😂👍🏼🤣 Thanks, Cheryl
I have a few panels and they sit and sit, what a new novel idea for a panel
I understand, I find panels difficult to work with. Thanks for watching.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I loved watching each of the challenge quilts come together. I love your version! I will have to remember your approach the next time I have a piece of fabric that is not the most attractive to leave in a large piece. 😉
Thanks and thanks for watching my channel 👍🏼♥️😊🐥
Wow! I looked up that iron and that is out of this world expensive 😲😲😲😲😲. Nice job on the challenge 😃
Thaks, I enjoyed the challenge. As for the iron, I felt the same way you do until I used it. What a game changer it's been for me not only with my quilting but with our cothing care too. And I do understand it's not for everyone. Thanks for watchign my channel Vivkie :)
Love how you used the panel!! Your quilt turned out great!!
Thank you very much, Michelle😊♥️🐥
Never thought to use an Irish Chain for fabric you're not thrilled about. You've inspired and it actually turned out very pretty!
So cute
Thank you Peggy & TFW !!
I just Love this quilt you made today. I ,m a new quilter but I am gonna try it!! I am so excited to try it. Thank you and keep up your great work and thanks for the ideas.
Thank you very much, Rosemary. It’s a classic, easy quilt to make. I think you’ll love it.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I absolutely LOVE chickens wish I had that panel!!
I love chickens too, they are so much fun🐓🐓 thanks for watching 😊♥️🐥
I was given a bag of fabric that included a duplicate set of panels. this turned out very cute! I might just get cutting!
i am impressed....great vision.
Thank you, Darlene👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Hi Di. What a fantastic quilt you made! Like you, I'm not a panels type of gal! However, I have two panels in my stash which were gifted and I never had the heart to get rid of them! Thank goodness, because now I will chop them up and use them! Thank you so much!❤
Thank you, I’m not a panels gal either. So why do you have so many then? 🤣😂👍🏼♥️🐥
Oh my gosh! Very sweet. I love what you did with this panel. Kind of gives me an idea
That’s awesome Cheryl Glad I could share and thanks for watching😊♥️🐥
I love chopping up fabric to make images we don’t like smaller. I like your Irish chain made from this panel. I have looked at two others and I like yours the best so far. It was an unusual panel to work with.
Thank you very much, Etta Kay😊👍🏼♥️🐥
the colors are great! what fun!!!
Thank you Pickles 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I cut up my chicken in small pieces and create some tasty casseroles … adding a vegetable panel or at least an onion can add more flavour/variety….. 18:31 great idea! ❤❤❤it!
🤣😂🤣😂 hilarious 👍🏼😂♥️🐥
I have blades like that!!! Thanks for the tip!!! I love your quilt!!! Well Done!!! Squirrel!!!!
Sometimes a squirrel is a good thing 🤣 TFW👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Love the way the colors vary and flow
Color is the magic and emotional part of a quilt, good eye 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Great idea , love it so much ! Thank you ❤
Thank you Sue 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
Very interesting way to use a panel, thank you xx
Thanks 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I have to say, some people are upset you sliced and diced the panel up…but in my opinion, it has been such a joy and lesson learned just how many ways you can use a panel! 4 different quilters and 4 amazing ways to use it…that’s a win win for ALL of us. Thanks Miss Di for thinking outside the box and giving us a new creative way to use a panel that just didn’t speak to you in a traditional way. Such a fun challenge. I love them all…have a marvelous weekend. Love ya And as always, hugs to the family. 🤗🥰🤗
You are awesome Debbie. Thanks for your support. You are the best, hugs back atcha & you have a great weekend with your family too 🥰😊😍👍🏼♥️🐥
Wow !!! Love it so much
I love this.
😍👍🏼♥️🐥
Great quilt Di. I’m glad you didn’t put that other yellow border on it, the light brown looks better. I’ve got a couple panels that are older I think I’ll have to try this technique! Have a great weekends 🇺🇸
After viewing the other three channels I am absolutely sure that your quilt is my favorite. The panel isn’t anything I would ever choose. Your notion of cutting it up is genius. I actually like it after viewing yours!! It shows that even ugly fabric, taken in smaller pieces, can be redeemed!!
Either you like a panel or you don’t. I personally find them difficult so I shy away from them. Thanks for watching👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I absolutely love it!
Thanks Sarah 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Brilliant idea - lovely quilt. Thanks for all the inspiration! Diana (from England). xx
Thank you Diana! And thanks for watching😊
What a great idea! Thanks for the inspiration
You are so welcome! thanks for watching Holly👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I love yellow!!!
💛😍😊♥️🐥
Dii, that turned out adorable and I'm glad you used another color border..
Thanks, Maria, I think the border was key to it. Success. TFW.👍🏼😊♥️🐥
The panel quilt turned out great! The final border selection was way better than if you had used both yellows.
I agree on the yellows with you. Hey, I forgot to call you back. I’ll catch you in the morning
😊👍🏼♥️
Mrs. Di, you are a wonderful teacher. Don’t let anyone change you! It’s only fabric and thread! And now we all have new ideas on how to use the panels in our stash. Keep up the awesome, imaginative work you share with us! #beabravechick #quiltlikemrsdi ❤
Thank you Cheryl 🥰 if you keep watching, I’ll keep sharing 👍🏼😊♥️🐥TFW♥️
Love how this turned out. I have some panels I didn't know what to do with, this is a great solution!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks a bunch Linda 😊👍🏼 I appreciate your comment 😊♥️🐥
Great idea. I have never cut a panel apart like that. I will have to give it a try.
You will, Audrey. It was actually a little exciting, lol.
This is perfect! I have several panels that are just not appealing. No fear in slicing and dicing😂
I cringed when you cut that up….I loved that panel..of course I love chickens..and those colors, the quilt is beautiful..love the inner border!
Love what you did with that panel! Not my style either but the quilt you made from it is much better than the panel! Great job Do 😉
Thank you so much, Gail. And I appreciate you watching my channel.😊👍🏼♥️🐥
You did exactly what I would have done. I'm not a fan of panels, and I agree with Bonnie Hunter. Cut the ugly fabric into small pieces and it will work! :) Great video.
Thank you Quilty Cat. You know they say, "great minds quilt alike!" lol :) P.S. I love Bonnie Hunter and want to grow to be just like her one day.
I like that one too.
Thanks 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I watched all four videos and it unreal what four different people can do to one panel and make their own'
It IS, right?!? I loved Leanas chicken coop♥️😊👍🏼🐥
Where did you find the other videos?
I love that you used the quilt panel to make an Irish Chain quilt. I don’t have a problem repurposing panels to make something beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you Susanna, I heard form several viewers who had a problem with it. lol! I appreciate your comment. Thanks for watching :)
You did a great job!
Thank you, Michele the Quilter😃😃😃♥️🐥
I love this panel. It's beautiful. That could be made into pot holders, and many other items for a kitchen. However it is also beautiful after being cut up and sewed into Nine Patch blocks. No, I can't see the panel anymore. Yes, it is a beautiful yellow quilt. Congratulations.. You just proved that you can cut up fabric so small that no one will recognize it in a quilt. Thank you.
I actually thought of a set of potholders but I’m a sucker for Irish Chain quilts. Thanks Arvetta😊👍🏼♥️🐥
Love it !
I love what you did with the panel! I am working on a scrappy Irish Chain right now. Enjoying your tutorials!
Thanks Jean, I love scrappy, Irish Chain 👍🏼🥰 TFW😊♥️🐥
I think it looks great. Really enjoy your videos.
Thank you Anita 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I really like what you did with it ! It's lovely
Thank you & TFW👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I love the colours of the quilt behind your panel quilt. The colours in it would have been nice with your quilt as well.
Great idea but I didn’t have any fabric that I could get to. Everything kind of inaccessible because of the remodel 🤪
Thanks for watching😊♥️🐥
Awesome! Love the background fabric you chose too😊Ohh and appreciate your rabbit hole😅
Thanks Renae, you know where rabbit hole is much more fun if you take someone with you.😂 as always thanks for watching♥️😊🐥
I have to say I learned about this from a seasoned quilter when I first started quilting - fabric is fabric and better to be used and loved vs sitting in a box somewhere
That is a good listen, to use and love the fabric then keep it in a box. Thank you for watching Debee👍🏼😃 I always appreciate your comments😊♥️👍🏼🐥
Super cute
👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Your brilliant! I would never have thought to make an Irish chain. Great job 👍👍👍
Thank you Joan 😊 it’s easy for me cause I love I C’s TFW😊♥️🐥
I never would have thought to do that! I am going to try that on a panel that I have ( or several).
Glad I could help 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I really enjoyed watching this video. This was a long time ago for me. I kept gravitating towards these panels, but not really a panel person. But I really did love the colors that were in the panels. Then one day I just took a leap. I purchased several panels and a local quilt store and they were in the dollar bin. And I had been thinking about it for some months, I know exactly what you did, cut them in 2 1/2 inch strips, gray for background and made an easy Irish chain quilt. I had enough fabric that I made two. One to keep want to give away.
WOW👀😳, I’ve never seen a dollar panel, lucky. You know they say great minds quilt alike 😂🤣 TFW👍🏼♥️😊🐥
I love chickens, moving back to Michigan. I’m 83 and on a years waiting list for a darn Dr. I can’t do it here. I love it but we’re on a waiting list for a Vet. I’m so excited my son is building me a chicken coop. Anyway I love the panel.☺️
Thanks Dianne. I hope you get Dr. soon👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Ouch 😂I liked the panels but hey each to her own!
Thanks you Vivianne, did you see the other 3 quilters in the throw down? It was fun seeing the different ideas. Thanks for watching.
The panel is not one I would purchase either!!!! Wasn’t sure though when you cut it all up but it turned out really cute. I love the Irish Chain too. The background fabric is perfect!
I want sure either 🤷♀️ but it sure turned out 😳 TFW👍🏼😊♥️🐥
I really like how the colors turned out ❤
Thanks 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Gotta congrat...you DID make that panel better! :) :) :)
Awe, Pat, thank you so much 👍🏼💛 TFW👍🏼😊🐥
I really enjoyed this challenge. You all did such a great job of coming up with such different ideas and explaining your thought processes.
Thank you, I thought so too. Thanks for watching👍🏼😊♥️🐥
So cute
Thanks 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I love what you did with the challenge, especially since you didn’t care for the panel, genius. All four of you did it your own way and each quilt came out gorgeous.
Yes, there were 4 amazing quilts 😍👍🏼, TFW👍🏼🐥
I was amazed at your way of deciding how to use fabric you would never purchase. It is lovely.
Thank you, Diane and thanks for watching👍🏼♥️😊🐥
I really love your finished quilt. Such a great idea of how to use a panel you're not in love with.
Thank you so much Trisha 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Like the results 😮
Thank you, bunches!
I like yours the best of all 4...
👍🏼😊♥️🐥
Wow. I wouldn't have to thought to cut up the panel this way. I love it.
Thank you, Michelle and thank you for watching👍🏼♥️😊🐥
I love that you stop and showed us how to clean our rotary cutter. Squirrel trails are the best. 😏😉
Well, thank you very much Mary Flynt👍🏼😊♥️😃🐥
THANK YOU!! I "inherited " about 20 quilt panels from my mom. She found them at a yard sale $5 for the whole bunch. I don't like working with panels because it's hard to find colors to match or its printed all kittywhompus. This is the perfect solution that I'd never thought of. And I didn't want the Quilt Police showing up at my door 😂😂
That’s very cool, Kate. You’ll be in projects for quite a while with that pile.😊♥️🐥
KISS= Keep It Simple "Silly" 😁
That a good one 😊👍🏼♥️🐥
I also love Irish chain quilt, great job
Me too Susan, thank you 😊♥️🐥
Love what you did with this panel. Such a creative idea.
Thanks Ian👍🏼😍 & thanks for watching 😊♥️🐥
I'm watching and laughing (with you, not at you 😉) at Yes, she's cutting that panel up. I was thinking that as the text appeared. Yellow is NOT my color, but I love what you created. Great video!
😂🤣😂🤣 Yellow isn’t my color either, but I thought it turned out cute too🤣😊♥️
Keep It Simple Sister! KISS.
Of course, 😊 thank you and TFW😊♥️🐥
Wow, this is so creative! It showed me a way to use fabric where I like the colors, but not the pattern itself. Genius!! ❤
Thank you Diana! And thanks for watching my channel😊
I’ve got a One Block Wonder - made with 7 identical panels - on my to-do list (I’ll cut up 6 and use one whole one in the middle). #cuttinguppanelsisnotacrime ♥️
Whee how gutsy to even start those cuts!!! I'm dying to see what you do. I can't wait. You are such fun.
Awww, thanks Pat & thanks for watching 👍🏼😊♥️🐥
You have to take a squirrel moment now and then.
Can you imagine if you didn't! We'd be little volcanoes inside! lol!
I love yellow.. it reminds me of sunflowers and daffodils ❤ I was at the quilt store and they had panels like that and had no clue what to do with them!
